Biography of Joshua L. Levine
I am originally from Atlanta, Georgia. I attended Tulane University
in New Orleans for my undergraduate education, and obtained my M.D.
degree from the Medical College of Georgia.
I completed my general surgery residency at The Albert Einstein
College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in New York. Within
that time I did a two year research fellowship in pancreatic and
gastrointestinal disease. During residency I was very fortunate
to have met my wife Rita, and to have had three beautiful children.
I continued at Einstein and completed my plastic surgery residency
with Dr. Berish Strauch, a founding father of microsurgery.
Following my plastic surgery residency I elected to pursue further
training in areas of particular interest to me, cosmetic surgery
and breast reconstruction. For cosmetic surgery I completed a fellowship
with Dr. Donald Wood-Smith at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.
Dr. Wood-Smith is a world-authority on facial plastic surgery, and
the cosmetic fellowship consisted of extensive training in advanced
cosmetic procedures with New York's top plastic surgeons.
My family and I then moved to New Orleans where it was my privilege
to complete a fellowship in microsurgical breast reconstruction
with Dr. Robert Allen, the chief of plastic surgery at Louisiana
State University. Dr. Allen originated and developed perforator
flaps for breast reconstruction and is the leading authority on
this technique.
After Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, we moved back to
New York and I established my practice in Manhattan. I currently
perform perforator flap breast reconstruction at the New York Eye
and Ear Infirmary, Einstein Hospital and Montefiore Hospital.
Dr. Levine operates at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. This
hospital specializes in advanced plastic surgical procedures and
impeccable patient care.
