I am happy to announce that we will be the first ever in the United States to offer microsurgical lymph node transfer for patients with a history of upper and lower extremity lymphedema. I just arrived back from training under Corinne Becker, the doctor who pioneered the lymph node microsurgical transfer, in Paris France.

This procedure entails creating a free flap from the groin consisting of fat and lymph nodes along with its blood supply and transferring it to the axilla. Once in the axilla, a pocket is created and the lymph node free flap is connected o the blood supply. There is a 98% success rate with this procedure.

Women who have had lymph node dissections and are currently experiencing upper and lower extremity lymphedema are candidates.
