Publisher's Note
Introduction to Seminars in Plastic Surgery
This issue, Volume 16, Number 1, marks a new beginningan
evolutionary change in the title, frequency, and format of
Perspectives and Outlook in Plastic Surgery. After over a
year of discussion and consensus, the Editor-in-Chief, the
Editorial Board, and the Publisher have made a decision to
present review articles in the field of plastic surgery in
what we believe to be a more efficient and easy-to-use format.
Therefore, Perspectives and its companion newsletter, Outlook
in Plastic Surgery, have been transformed into a softcover,
quarterly review journal, titled Seminars in Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Sal Shenaq will remain the journals Editor-in-Chief
and his Associate Editor will continue to be Dr. Larry Hollier.
There will also be a number of new additions to the Editorial
Board. The new Seminars will be a topic driven and incisive
educational tool for practicing plastic surgeons. Each issue
will elucidate state-of-the-art plastic, aesthetic, and reconstructive
surgery techniques and will be a dynamic forum for the exchange
of experiences among practitioners. In addition, it will be
an outlet for conferring on differing techniques and opposing
viewpoints that will allow authors to share their accumulated
knowledge and skills in their specialty.
This first issue, Volume 16, Number 1, Guest Edited by Robert
J. Allen,M.D. is on Advances in Breast Reconstruction. Dr.
Shenaq has assembled the following subsequent issues for 2002:
Vol. 16,No. 2, 2002: Lipogenesis and Lipoplasty Guest Editors:
Saleh M. Shenaq, M.D., and Joseph P.Hunstad,M.D.
Vol. 16,No. 3, 2002: Facial Rejuvenation: State of the Art
Guest Editors: Timothy J. Marten,M.D., and Tue A. Dinh, M.D.
Vol. 16,No. 4, 2002: Craniomaxillofacial Injuries: Early
and Late Reconstruction Guest Editors: Paul N. Manson, M.D.,
Joseph S. Gruss, M.D., and Larry H.Hollier, Jr., M.D.
Finally, we here at Thieme are thrilled about the re-launching
of Perspectives and Outlook in Plastic Surgery as a Seminars
review journal, and we are certain that this new format will
continue to be an invaluable resource for both your practice
and teaching needs.
